A Benefit for our Little Legion

Join us for a full buffet dinner and dancing to some get yer-feet-movin' tunes. The A.D. Band is a group of veteran players pulling together for the Little Legion for this event. They join us from Vancouver with their eclectic mix of rock, blues and even some honky tonk, Lumineerss and Jeff Healey tunes.

The buffet will feature salmon, bbq ribs, vegetarian dishes, organic veggies, and delicious desserts.

Doors @ 6pm; Buffet @ 7pm; Dancing @ 8pm.

Tickets must be purchased in advance: $40 for buffet dinner and dance. Available online (see below), at the Legion, or Roberts Creek General Store.
Dance only, admission after 8pm: $15 at the door

The A.D. Band is graciously donating their talents for this event; Chef Medina is heading a crew of volunteers who are donating their culinary skills. All proceeds go towards the "Save the Little Legion Fund", for which we thank you all!

Friday's live music at Diner219er features Alex Parrish (banjo & mandolin) and Charlie Crickett on ukelele and guitar playing a medley of old style melodies, some old, some original,some happy, some not so happy. It's a grand ol'time with a wooden nickel!

There's no cover charge for this event, and paired with delicious food from Medina and the Diner219er crew it's going to be a great evening.

In Memory of JOHNJOHN MORRIS

The world has lost a legend…some would say a Roberts Creek icon.

Johnjohn (John) Morris passed away suddenly on April 2, 2014, while doing his winter thing in Thailand.

Born and raised in Leaside, Ontario, Johnjohn picked up his roots and moved West in the late 60s, settling on the Sunshine Coast in Roberts Creek, BC, where he has lived for nearly 40 years.

The community of Roberts Creek and his worldwide family will celebrate his life on Saturday May 17, 2014. Everyone is welcome to join us at 2pm at the Roberts Creek Legion to share stories and sing a song for JJ. This will be followed at 5pm by a procession to the beach and the spreading of ashes.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made through Roberts Creek Legion to the Johnjohn Morris Memorial Fund, in person or online at http://www.robertscreeklegion.ca/jjm-memorial

Approx. schedule:
2pm - gather at Roberts Creek Legion
3pm - 4:30 pm: Family eulogy, stories and music
5pm - Procession to RC pier for spreading of ashes
Afterwards: Return to Legion for more music, stories and honouring of our dear family member and friend.

This week's Friday dinner (June 13th) is brought to us by Trish Thompson:

"Good day folks, I'll be in the kitchen again this Friday….
going to chef up a little Hawaii for you with Teriyaki Beef burgers… now this is not ground beef but slices of roast of beef marinated all day in homemade Teriyaki sauce.
For you non meat eaters I will be marinating veggies then roasting them for your veggie burger. If you don't like wheat, you can have it on a bed of rice.
A nice fresh garden salad along side and then to top it off Pineapple Upside Down cake for dessert.
Hope to see you Friday, dinner is served from 5:00 to 9:00 and we do take out too.

All the dinners are between $10 and $12 bucks, dessert is $3. Not expensive at all for a good home cooked meal.
